Mega Run is a two-dimensional arcade game released on Windows 8.1 computers and tablets, which belongs to the category of so-called endless runners. The game was created by an independent Canadian studio Get Set Games, focusing on mobile productions.
In the game we play the role of a red creature living in the forest named Redford (slightly reminiscent of Om Noma from the Cut the Rope series). One day his sister and brother are kidnapped and imprisoned by a mysterious monster, and Redford embarks on a long and dangerous journey to find and save his siblings.
The mechanics of the game resembles, to a large extent, typical, two-dimensional arcade games like Sonic. The difference is that we don’t have full control over our hero while playing. The Redford is constantly moving forward, slowing down a little only in the case of more complex evolutions or after a collision with an obstacle. Our task is to avoid roadblocks and jump over chasms and creatures circulating on platforms. We can also neutralize these by jumping on their heads, which also results in a second, longer jump.
The game’s graphic design is simple, but friendly and extremely colorful. The authors took care of the randomness of individual levels, so you can go through them many times without the feeling of fatigue. The fun is diversified by the need to collect coins (which can be used for shopping in the game store) and hidden at each stage of the three precious stones, on which finding depends on the points awarded to us.
