Re-wind
Re-Wind is a trivia quiz game that can be played with up to six players
simultaneously. It includes questions in the categories Pop Culture, Places,
Books & Words, Movies, Events, TV, Sports, Politics, People, and Science. At
the start of the game a category is selected, but with a teaser that hints at
the subject matter. For each question a maximum of 900 points can be scored.
As soon as the question is started (often accompanied by a picture), the
points value starts decreasing. Players select one of the four available
answers by pressing the A, B, C or D button on the remote. After an answer is
chosen, the player’s colour bar at the bottom is extended to show that an
answer has been selected (without revealing it). As the question progresses, a
number of clues appear that help select the right answer. Wrong answers do not
receive any points. When the time is up, the answer is revealed and a
scoreboard is shown.
The game’s title refers to the ability to rewind by using of the five retakes
provided at the beginning of the game. If an answer has been chosen but the
clues reveal that it is going to be incorrect, the player can still change his
mind and use one of the retakes to choose a different answer. Players can also
choose not to use any retakes as unused ones are worth 300 points each at the
end of a game. After a first question the player with the lowest score chooses
the next category. If it is a tie, the system selects a player. A bonus retake
is provided when the point total of their chosen question exceeds 500.
Next to the rewind questions players sometimes receive two other types: True
or False, or News or Not. In True or False players have to decide if
statements are real or made up. After each statement players have to wager
300, 600 or 900 points. News or Not presents three outrageous headlines. The
player has to choose the one that is real and again wager 300, 600 or 900
points.
