Potter’s Field is a horror themed / dark urban fantasy cemetery management game set in the swamps of modern day Louisiana. Attract a host of supernatural creatures, manage your workers and harvest spell components while balancing both the budget and relationships with multiple factions (including vacationing demons). Fill your spell book, collect unique items, and learn to control the strange and terrible events that plague these grounds as you attempt to impede an ancient curse from peeling our reality away.
We Demand Satisfaction:
* Try to keep the cemetery’s denizens, workers, visitors (human or otherwise), occult factions, and the guild that sent you satisfied, or just focus on the ones that matter to you
One’s Measure:
* Manage your employees, keep them sane, alive and happy, or let them fall into madness, quit, die, or worse as they toil to maintain the cemetery to your exact specifications
* Workers individually level up their skills, as well as their ability to defend their minds, bodies and souls
A Curious Garden:
* Plant seeds and watch them grow as the workers tend to them, while the dark energies of the land suffuse in them
* Collect and harvest spell components, building materials, crafting ingredients, objects for placement, etc.
Trusted Books:
* An encyclopedia worth of secrets to reveal, gather knowledge to gain access to more obscure and arcane items and creatures
* Discover, trade, buy and inherit spells to fill your grimoire
Coffins and Coffers:
* Work the open spell component market, please the human and demon visitors to earn their currencies, accept bodies by the truck load, deplete your partner’s trust fund, and cook the books the old fashioned way… with magic!
Brick by Brick:
* The walls, bridges, crypts and buildings are built by the workers, one brick at a time. They must even dig the rivers by hand, as large machinery is prone to possession on these grounds. Of course a little magical assistance never hurt speed up the labor (except when it does).
An Open Gate:
* All item / creature DLC free, when the game gets them, you get them
* It is planned to create an app that players can use to turn 3d models into in-world game objects (I say “planned” because I have yet to create the tool, so there might be some technical limitation or even legal issues that keeps this from happening)
Room for More:
* Let other players come for a visit, whether just for a stroll or to come help you build your cemetery
* Player interest / funding willing, possible cemetery mini-games…
A Slice of Vertical Pie:
* While every aspect of the game is not currently playable together, and the game is sorely in need of more in game items and creatures, I would place the completion of a “vertical slice” at about the 80% – 90% range. The major hurdles like pathing, worker A.I., monster A.I., the dig river / grave tool, player interaction code, and online multiplayer have all already been completed and are operational. The next steps to push to 100% vertical slice include getting the spells cast-able, getting the spell component market / economy up and running, getting the nightshift crew in the game, and traveling merchants.
