Pokémon Battrio
Pok emon BATTRIO is an arcade game similar to Pokemon Battle Revolution: it
focuses solely on Pokemon battles. The key difference is that three Pokemon
are used on each team at once, a feature not yet introduced into the main
series (“BATTRIO” is a combination of “battle” and “trio”). Which Pokemon can
be used is determined by pucks that are purchased and used by the player. The
battle system is simplified to attract a target audience of ages 6 to 12. A
memory key may also be purchased to save progress, and to progress through
some modes of the game. The game originally featured the 493 Pokemon up
through Generation IV, but was later updated to feature Pokemon from
Generation V. The game was eventually discontinued and the units replaced by
its sequel, Pokemon Tretta.
