## Description
Originally released for PC (Windows) under title Maple Colors in 2003
featuring erotic content, this PlayStation 2 port was done in 2005 with
reduced rating and removed adult scenes, as well as additional subtitle.
Unlike the majority of visual novels which rely on constant 1st-person
perspective with occasional choices that branch the story, _Maple Colors_
additionally features 3rd-person isometric perspective where you cannot
control your characters directly, but can cycle through the nearby NPCs and
objects and direct your character towards it which effectively enters the 1st-
person view and addresses the situation in a typical visual novel style with
dialogue choices where applicable.
The protagonist of the story is Yoshijirou Saku (佐久 良次郎) who recently
transferred to Kouka academy which is was renowned for its theatrical plays.
However, his life takes for an unexpected turn when he and his classmate Mirai
Aoi (葵 未来) are charged for starting a fight in their classroom while
protecting a student from regular band of bullies. Their second chance and
only hope of not getting expelled comes in a form of becoming a member of a
drama club. But just the two of them joining the class is not enough to avoid
the expulsion, instead, they have to come up with a way to enlist the rest of
their classmates from which majority are nothing but troublemakers.
The game excludes some of the typical gameplay elements of visual novels such
as checking the message history or auto-reading, but includes lots of
additional content such as various mini-games which come in two difficulty
modes, easy and normal. The extras which are accessed via main menu feature
unlockable galleries and fully unlocked by default BGM player. A short game
manual is also included in the game, accessed directly from the main menu. The
game features mild animations during dialogues, with various character
expressions and poses, and occasionally blurs the background to focus on the
character you are currently talking to. Opening movie does not go through in-
game slides and is fully animated cinematic.
