## Description
_Castle Crashing: The Beard_ is a homage to the XBLA game Castle Crashers. It
offers a taste of the gameplay although the featured content does not appear
in the final game as it was conceived by a different team of developers. The
title’s theme is centered around Tom Fulp, a developer from The Behemoth
working on the full game who vowed not to shave his beard until the release of
the game. This inspired co-workers at Newgrounds, a flash games portal Tom
Fulp created, to design a game around the concept.
Players take on the flying face of Tom Fulp (with a huge beard) using one of
the knights from the _Castle Crashers_ game. Tom uses his beard to attack and
occasionally loafs of bread are dropped from the sky. The player can move
around, jump platforms and attack with a single weapon. There is also a
limited amount of magic that is automatically restored. Hitting a tombstone or
the bearded face in succession leads to combos with additional damage. After a
certain set of hits, the player’s knight upgrades to a new form, with a new
weapon and magic. There are four forms in total, each with a different colour
and a more powerful weapon. When Tom Fulp has been defeated, he transforms
into a flying skull with an entirely different attack pattern. The player has
two additional lives and can take multiple hits before dying.
