Z-Xtricator

## Description

_Z-Xtricator_ is a side-scrolling shooter. It is inspired by Defender but
only scrolls from left to right at a steady pace, with no option to turn
around and move in the opposite direction. It takes place long ago in a galaxy
far away where a war between two hostile races took place. Prisoners taken
could not expect to survive for long and their only hope lay with the
Xtricators, a group of warriors whose job it was to rescue people from the
enemy’s home planet.

The player takes control of a member of the Xtricators called Zed and has to
collect all members of his group that have been captured. To pick up a
prisoner the player has to move down close to the surface without hitting the
ground. Due to the planet’s gravitational pull the player can’t stay close to
the surface too long since the ship will then explode. At the same time the
player has to fight the enemy fighters that try to stop him. Two weapons are
available: a regular laser cannon and a super zapper bomb that destroys all
enemies on the screen. The bombs have to be used sparingly as there are only
three in supply. Occasionally a mother ship will appear which must be hit four
times with the laser. The player has a limited amount of fuel but after
rescuing all prisoners the player returns home for a refill before the game
continues with another tougher stage.
