Yakuza Kiwami 2 is a remake of Yakuza 2 game.
Yakuza Kiwami 2 is a remake of Yakuza 2, and is an action-adventure game set in an open world environment and played from a third-person perspective. Similar to the previous remake title, Yakuza Kiwami, Kiwami 2 follows the same plot structure of Yakuza 2 while adding new gameplay features and enhancements from later titles, as well as new story elements to resolve confusing plot points in the original release and tie the game more closely to other titles in the series. The player control series protagonist Kazuma Kiryu as they explore the fictional Japanese districts of Kamurocho, Tokyo and Sotenbori, Osaka. Combat is based on that previously seen in Yakuza 6. A new story scenario, “The Truth of Goro Majima”, features recurring series anti-hero Goro Majima as a playable character. The Clan Creator from Yakuza 6 also returns, bringing in New Japan Pro Wrestling stars Keiji Mutoh, Masahiro Chono, Riki Choshu, Genichiro Tenryu, and Tatsumi Fujinami.
Yakuza Kiwami 2 was initially leaked on August 24, 2017 via a listing on the Taiwanese PlayStation Store. The title was officially announced two days later alongside Shin Ryu ga Gotoku, Yakuza Online, and Hokuto ga Gotoku. The game runs on the Dragon Engine which was previously used in Yakuza 6. Several characters were recast for the remake, including Hakuryu as Ryo Takashima, Houka Kinoshita as Wataru Kurahashi, Yuichi Kimura as Tsutomo Bessho, and Susumu Terajima as Jiro Kawara.
Taking place a year on from the first game, Yakuza Kiwami 2 once again puts the player in the shoes of Kazuma Kiryu. The Dragon of Dojima, as expected, finds himself in yet another precarious situation involving the Japanese mafia.
Since the passing of Akira Nishikiyama in the first installment, the Tojo Clan has been slowly falling apart, internal power struggles running riot. This inevitably leads to conflict with Osaka’s Omi Alliance, which happens to be backing the late Nishikiyama.
The Truth of Goro Majima
A new feature for the Kiwami 2. Taking place on February 2006, Tojo Clan’s Fifth Chairman Yukio Terada announced that he’s going to recruit new blood to rebuild the Tojo Clan after the 10 billion yen incident.
The scene opens at Tojo Clan’s HQ. A heated argument ensues between the Clan’s patriarch over their refusal to do shady business practices.
In order to fill the vacant position of Clan captain, Terada ruled that the one who has the most financial contribution will be appointed as the Captain. Two people are gunning for the position: Akinobu Uematsu and Goro Majima.
“Kazuma Kiryu thought his Tojo Clan days were behind him. He and his young ward, Haruka Sawamura, have built a peaceful life from the ashes of conflict. All it took was a single gunshot to shatter that peace. Yukio Terada, the fifth chairman of the Tojo Clan, has been assassinated. With war on the horizon, the legendary Dragon of Dojima is pulled back into the world he wanted to leave behind. ”
With the Tojo Clan weakened from the events of 2005 and on the brink of war with the Omi Alliance, Kiryu himself journeys to Kansai to broker peace. But in Sotenbori, the Dragon of Kansai, Ryuji Goda, sees an opportunity: Destroy the Tojo Clan, destroy Kiryu, and become the one true dragon.
As a power struggle begins between east and west, a tragedy buried for over 20 years boils to the surface, shaking the very foundation of both organizations.
What fate awaits Kazuma Kiryu? What dark truths will be illuminated? And when two dragons have clashed, and the ashes settle over Kamurocho, who will be left standing?
A year after leaving his former life in the Tojo Clan behind, ex-yakuza Kazuma Kiryu is called back into action when the clan's Fifth Chairman, Yukio Terada, is murdered by assassins from a rival organization, the Omi Alliance. Returning to Kamurocho, Kiryu must find a new chairman for the Tojo Clan and prevent an all-out war between the Tojo and the Omi, bringing him into conflict with Ryuji Goda, the legendary "Dragon Of Kansai" of the Omi Alliance.
