The player takes on the role of the champion of Paddleland, and has to save
the world from the Enclosers invasion. He or she must break out every brick
wall that threatens the universe and defeat the ten Elemental Lords.

X the Hyper Ball is a Breakout variant. The player’s goal is to destroy
bricks by making a ball bounce of a paddle, which the player can move
horizontally. There are fourteen kinds simple bonuses (Telekinesis, Atom
missile, etc.) which can be collected by breaking certain bricks, plus
thirteen special ones; however, there are also “maluses”, which bestow
negative effects, such as shortening the pad, reversing the direction of the
ball, etc. Various monsters appear, trying to further impede the player’s
progress. There is also a shopping system, which allows the player to trade
bonuses between levels.
