WWII Battle Tanks: T-34 vs. Tiger
_WWII Battle Tanks: T-34 vs. Tiger_ takes place during “Operation Bagration”
which was a great offensive executed by the Red Army from June 22 till August
29, 1944 with the goal to recapture the Belorussian capital Minsk. In the end
the Red Army managed to do much more than that, making the operation not only
decisive for the outcome of WWII but also the most costly battle for the
Germans with the highest rate of casualties since 1916 including the complete
destruction of Heeresgruppe Mitte and three of its component armies.
Two campaigns with six missions each put the player either on the side of the
Russians in an accurately simulated T-34 tank or on the side of the Germans in
a Panzerkampfwagen VI Ausf. E – better known as “Tiger”. Each tank has three
playable positions: Driver, Gunner and Commander. The fourth, the Loader, is
always controlled by the AI. The player can switch between every position at
any time and give control of the rest over to the AI.
The Driver is responsible for driving the tank obviously but this not only
involves steering but also changing gears and managing the number of
revolutions to keep the tank moving and the engine running in every situation.
The Commander spots enemies with his binoculars and gives fire and move orders
to the rest of the crew. The Gunnery instead has to choose the ammunition, aim
carefully and hit the target preferably at it’s week spot. To do so he has the
original gunnery sights of both tanks at his disposal to exactly calculate
both the distance to and the height of a target to put the grenade right where
the commander wants it.
The game also features Deathmatch and Team Deathmatch multiplayer-modes for up
to 16 players and an editor to make own maps and missions.
