Vietnam: The Tet Offensive is an expanded first-person shooter (action/FPS game) that takes players into one of the most controversial conflicts of the 20th century – the Vietnam War. The plot of the program focuses on 1968, when the thirteen-day-largest offensive of the North Vietnamese army took place, considered by many historians as a breakthrough period of the armed conflict in question (about 70,000 soldiers attacked the areas controlled by the United States and South Vietnamese forces).
In the game we play the role of a young member of American special forces, whose task is to save an officer of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA). The latter was captured during a secret mission, and the capture from the hands of the enemy must take place before the communists take him deep into the territory of Northern Vietnam. Theoretically, a standard rescue mission is hindered by the launch of the aforementioned offensive….
We got 6 scenarios to overcome, each with a number of side tasks (apart from the story mode, the game also has a free fighting mode, in which it is not required to go through the mission according to the plot). During the game we have access to authentic weapons (rifles, rocket launchers, etc.), vehicles (e.g. jeeps), we can also call for aerial support (combat helicopters and/or planes throwing napalm on the indicated targets). Noteworthy is the innovative health system of the leading soldier (each action causes fatigue, so there is a need to rest before any attack). The damage received will also make it more difficult for you to move around or shoot accurately, although they can be cured during prolonged periods of stoppage. The picture is complemented by polished, but not knee-defying, audio-visual effects.
