The three collections of “Tour of Duty” mission available in Star Wars: X-Wing aroused the appetites of fans of the star saga. According to the designers from Totally Games studio, another campaign was to appear in the game. The marketing specialists at LucasArts were of the opinion, however, that a separately published supplement would bring greater profits. They were not mistaken, because the audience, who liked the role of the rebel pilot X-Wing, willingly reached for expansion.
Action Star Wars: X-Wing – Imperial Pursuit takes place just after the events described in the basic version of the game. Although the rebels managed to destroy the Death Star, the forces of the Empire were not defeated. Angered Darth Vader plans bloody revenge. Yavin IV’s rebel base becomes a target for attacks by the enemy star fleet. The defenders are forced to hastily evacuate, during which they lose large reserves of raw materials and food. The rebels have to set up a new base on another planet, rebuild resources and face the opponent.
Additional Imperial Pursuit offers a fourth campaign from the “Tour of Duty” series, which consists of 20 highly diversified missions. By doing so, players have the task of protecting the evacuation of the rebel base on planet Yavin IV, escorting transport ships and intercepting enemy units. There is also no shortage of epic battles fought in space.
Without the additional campaign, the extension does not introduce almost any changes. The only exception is a new fleet fighter Empire – TIE Advanced, which appears in several missions.
To work properly, the add-on requires a basic game. Apart from a completely separate release, the extension Star Wars: X-Wing – Imperial Pursuit was also included in the sets Star Wars: X-Wing Collector’s and Star Wars: X-Wing Collector Series.
