## Description
_SPEC_ is a text-adventure game based on the TV drama series with the same
name, featuring the same actors from the TV series. Most of the game resembles
a typical visual novel showing static characters in different poses and
expressions over background with on-screen text to indicate dialogues with
included voice-acting. Unlike in visual novels where both background and
characters often use anime art, this game uses actual locations and live
photos for both locations and characters. The bottom, touch screen, is used to
enter player’s responses during dialogues, check conversation log, adjust the
game settings, save the game or check the tips and hints section.
The story takes place between episode 4 and 5 of the TV drama and features
Takeru and Saya as the protagonists. The SPEC is a special police
investigation branch that focuses on catching people who abuse their
supernatural abilities. The story, as such, takes place in slightly altered
version of the real world where people with special abilities exist, and those
abilities are not clearly visible to anyone else unless the person who has a
special ability uses it. Takeru and Saya, a team of two young detectives,
confronts the criminals who use their special abilities to do evil deeds.
Initial print release included a download code for new scenarios which can
also be purchased via in-app after completing the main story. Additionally,
the game includes a retro mystery adventure game which uses 8-bit graphic and
controls similar to old Famicom (NES) adventure games with static image
depicting location on one part of screen, and the other containing a list of
actions player can perform to either investigate the location or talk to other
characters.
