Summary
Soul Star makes heavy use of the Sega Mega-CD’s scaling feature to acchive a pseudo 3D effect. Some stages keep scrolling automatically, similar to games like Space Harrier, while others can be explored freely, akin to Core Design’s own Thunderhawk.
FMV cutscenes are used for briefings, available in multiple languages for the PAL release.
The game is partially non-linear. Players could choose their route after finishing the first mission.
