Solasta: Crown of the Magister is a tactical RPG game set in a fantasy universe. The production is inspired by classic tabletop RPG systems like Dungeon’s & Dragons. In terms of gameplay, the title resembles the well-known Divinity: Original Sin series. It was developed by the independent Tactical Adventures studio (founded by a former Amplitude Studios employee) and is their debut project.
### Mechanics
Solasta: Crown of the Magister is a tactical RPG game where action is observed from an isometric perspective. During the game we control a team of four heroes. The fun begins with the creation of your team. The production offers access to several different races (e.g. humans, elves, dwarves, halflings) and character classes (warrior, thief, cleric and magician). Each of them has different special abilities. We also have the possibility to customize the personality and draw statistics.
The title has been designed in such a way to resemble as much as possible the classic tabletop RPG games. Creators from Tactical Adventures studio put emphasis on freedom of gameplay and three-dimensional maps – during the game we can climb and fly, which often helps to gain advantage over opponents. The fight is played in the turn-based system, and success requires appropriate use of the talents of individual characters. It is also possible to use environmental elements – e.g. collapsing columns or wall fragments or destroying bridges.
Other factors such as lighting and character size are also important. We can use light as a weapon, but by doing so we also betray the position of our heroes and expose them to attack. The game also allows you to use the little heroes for exploration – they are able to get to places where others will not enter, which is sometimes very useful, but can also expose the lonely character to death.
### Game modes
In Solasta: Crown of the Magister we can only play alone. The basis of the game is a feature campaign.
### Technical aspects
Solasta: Crown of the Magister has a quite attractive, three-dimensional graphic design. The designs of both characters and locations are kept in a classic fantasy style and bring to mind associations with, among others, textbooks for feature games (especially the Dungeons & Dragons).
