Richard Hammond’s Top Gear: Interactive Challenge

## Description

_Richard Hammond’s Top Gear Interactive Challenge_ is a quiz game for one
player – that’s the ‘Billy No Mates’ mode, or two players/teams – the ‘Head to
Head’ mode. Naturally, being a game based on the ‘Top Gear’ TV show and hosted
by one of the show’s presenters, cars feature heavily in this game.

There are five rounds in the game, each round is preceded by Richard Hammond
explaining the format of the round, these explanations are optional and can be
skipped. Details of the rounds follow, after each round the player(s) are
shown their round score, their cumulative score and a clip from the TV show,
the rounds are;

* Keep Your Distance: The player is shown a series of ten photographs of parts of cars such as a bumper or a rear light. They must select the correct car make/model from the supplied list. They have sixty seconds to complete the series, a wrong answer costs five seconds while a right answer gains five points.

* Under The Bonnet: The player(s) are shown footage of a car and a statistic about that vehicle such as brake horsepower, engine capacity etc. They are then shown a second car and have to decide whether the same statistic for this vehicle is higher or lower than that of the first. A correct answer scores ten points while a wrong answer scores zero. The teams take turns answering their questions and there are two questions each.

* The Cool Wall: Players are shown a series of six cars and must decide whether they are cool or un-cool, each correct answer scores points and getting all six correct earns a bonus of twenty points. However there is a ‘jeopardy car’ – a car that is so cool it’s rated sub-zero – placing that car in the wrong category ends the player’s turn and loses them all points scored in the round.

* Caravan Roulette: Six caravans are lined up in a quarry and player’s take turns blowing them up. The catch is that Richard Hammond is hiding in one of them, blowing up a caravan that he’ NOT in scores ten points while hitting the one he’s hiding in ends the round. A further twist happens when the players are left with just two caravans, player one has the option of playing or passing the control to player two, the catch here is that blowing up Mr Hammond costs the team forty points while blowing up the empty caravan scores forty points.

In the single player game this round is played slightly differently, the
player has to decide whether they wish to destroy three, four or five caravans
for thirty, forty or fifty points. Three or more caravans scores points and
the round ends if Mr Hammond is shot.

* Need For Speed: Each team is asked a series of fifteen multiple choice questions, they have ten seconds per question some of which are based on a clip from the show.
