## Description
_Lila_ is an implementation of the ancient Indian board game _Leela_
(Wikipedia, later named Snakes and Ladders) and is using terminology of modern
interpretation of the game described in the book “The Yoga of Snakes and
Arrows: The Leela of Self-Knowledge” (1993) by Harish Johari.
On a board with 72 fields, up to six players start unborn in field 68. To
start moving into life, the player has to roll a six on the dice. If doing so,
the player is set on field number 6 (“delusion”). Moving on the fields is
straight: you roll a the dice and move forward by the number of fields. The
ultimate goal is to complete the circle and reach the field 68 again. On the
board are also two types of line connections between fields called “snakes”
and “ladders”. Entering a field being a starting point of one of those two
lines, the player is directly moved to the ending field of those lines. Snakes
are negative effects and move the player to a field below on the board, while
ladders are shortcuts to fields with higher numbers. If a player if walking
over field 68 (e.g. from field 64 with a six), no further movement is possible
until this player is rolling the number to reach field 72 (“Tamoguna”) exactly
and then reenters the board.
Each field is entitled with the names from Harish Johari’s book and the game
creator advises to read the comments in the book on entering a field (those
texts are not included in the game). Games can be loaded and saved. Dice rolls
can either be simulated by the computer or the value of a real dice can be
entered as number. All in-game texts are in German language.
