Kinect Nat Geo TV: Season Two
This is the second season released as DLC for the original Kinect Nat Geo TV
game. It requires the original game to play and can only be purchased as a
download. Just like the base game it offers eight, 30-minute episodes. These
can be purchased as a complete pack or as individual episodes. They are now
taken from the Dangerous Encounters National Geographic TV series presented by
reptile expert Brady Barr. The episodes are combined with interactive content,
usually at the moment a commercial break would occur. Some of the content
needs to be unlocked during the episodes while others are presented regardless
of triggers by the player through the required Kinect peripheral. The
different tasks performed by the player are rated with stars at the end of the
episode, providing a medal. There are different types of activities for the
player and these occur multiple times in a single episode. Most of them are
mandatory, so it is not possible to watch the entire episode without
interaction.
The basic concept of the activities and the mini-games is similar to those of
the original game, but now with different animals such as an octopus,
starfish, salamander, alligator, komodo dragon, hippo, squid, snake etc. based
on the content of the episodes. Some of the activities are “Closed Encounters”
where certain animals need to hunt for food, hitting other hippos to establish
dominance, catching scorpions as a komodo dragon, catching fish as an
alligator, preventing vultures from stealing meat, catching bats as a snake
and more. The three main activities are Snapshot (during episodes players take
snapshots to set camera traps), Sidetracks (identify animals based on certain
features) and Go Wild! (the mini-games).
