_Internet Board Games_ is a compilation of thirteen games which were sold by
JC Research’s. Apart from Chess and Checkers all the games were sold both
separately and in mini compilations as part of their Stone Master Classic
In this version of the compilation, _Internet Board Games: Network Edition_
the games have reduced functionality as no AI opponents are installed. The
player may play themselves or another person on the pc taking alternate moves,
or play against a person over a network (the product came with two discs to
make this easier), or either a person an AI opponent over the internet but
they cannot play an AI opponent on their pc.
All games start by showing two windows, the game board and the character
selection screen. Though the player can change the picture associated with
each player and the controls for selecting the AI difficulty appear to work
there is no AI opponent.
Games are played in one window while another, optional, window shows each
player’s score and the time remaining for them to make their move. The in-game
help also opens in a separate window as do the game configuration options.
The games in the compilation are:
* Fox & Geese
* Go \- three levels are available beginner, intermediate and advanced
* Internet Board Games, played on three different sized boards 9×9, 11×11 and 13×13
* Nine Men’s Morris (Mills)
* Internet Board Games
* Dalmatian Pirates & The Volga Bulgars often called just ‘Pirates’ in menus
* Push and Shove (Abalone)
* Reversi (Othello)
* Wild West, there are two trails to follow the Star Trail and the Wolf Trail
In order to talk to on-line opponents the game installs Voice Chat which is
used by Microsoft’s NetMeeting
In 2016 the on line game servers are no longer active so unless there are two
players with copies of this product the only method of playing is a hot seat
game on the pc.
