Cities in Motion series originated in 2011 on PC along with the release of a game that belonged to economic strategies genre, and showed how means of transportation have been developing for over 100 years. The game, however, met with mixed reception. The developers from Colossal Order Studios draw conclusions from that and for the sequel they decided to focus on what was the most fun for players i.e. building complex communication networks.
Cities in Motion 2: The Modern Days is set in a modern metropolis. The player’s task is to build, using the full range of means of transport, a functional communication system that meets the needs of the population and facilitate the development of the city.
Among the available vehicles for the first time appeared trolleybuses, which replaced helicopters present in the first game. The developers took care for a complete redesigning of timetables system, as well as greatly expanded options of ticket pricing. Cities in Motion 2 also allows you to build your own fragments of roads, choosing from a number of various types of road surface characterized by varied traffic.
As compared with the first game, the sequel offers more game modes. Players can try their hand in the main career or sandbox mode. There are also cooperative and competitive multiplayer modes.
