## Description
Everything was fine in the fantasy country Dwarfia – until two magicians were
bored and competed their magic abilities. Unfortunately they were both sore
losers and so they used meaner and meaner spells until whole Dwarfia was
destroyed. Now the dwarfs live underground and their only chance to colonize
their world again is to find old temples and claim their contents.
In the beginning the dwarfs have only one building and the goal is to search
the randomly spread temples by digging in all possible directions. Of course
this means there is a need for raw materials – ladders and bridges need bamboo
or wood, These materials are cultivated and processed in sawmills. Iron ore is
gained in mines which need wood planks… So originates the first small
economic cycle which gets expanded over time. There are two sorts of dwarfs:
Diggers and gardeners. Dwarfs without job can be assigned, but this choice is
irreversible.
A big factor is the motivation of the workers. At first the prospect of a life
overground is enough but later the player has to motivate them with beer. But
there is no beer without a bar and a bar needs more raw materials like
mushrooms or bread. Also the dwarfs don’t have the knowledge to build all
buildings right away, they have to find the construction plans in the temples.
When reaching a temple the game changes to a side scrolling puzzle game. There
the player has to control several dwarfs directly and find a way to the
temple’s treasures by solving puzzles like finding switches or deactivating
barriers.
