Bus- & Cable-Car-Simulator
Bus- & Cable-Car-Simulator is a job simulation in which the protagonist
drives public transportation vehicles in San Francisco (about 25% of the city
is recreated). The basic work day consists of driving to the station of
departure with a regular car, choosing a vehicle (after starting the game,
only one is available), receiving a timetable and then adhering to it.
Depending on the used vehicle, the player has to think about a number of
additional actions besides driving, steering and stopping, e.g. kneeling
(lowering the bus so the passengers can easily enter) or selling the correct
tickets. After finishing a route, the player is payed depending on factors
like length of the course, punctuality and number of passengers.
Earned money can be reinvested into more vehicles (which may have different
routes and play differently), a nicer apartment, fuel or a visit to the
washing bay. Additionally there are a number of smaller things available to
purchase, e.g. sun glasses, a newspaper or coffee (which is, besides sleeping,
a way to keep fatigue and the danger of micro sleep at bay). Sometimes the
vehicles have to be repaired which can be optionally done manually through a
mini game.
The game features an in-game achievement system which tracks positive or
negative behaviour, e.g. driving a certain amount of kilometers, being on
time, crossing red lights or crashing into other cars. Those have either
direct (cash/fine) or long-term (better/worse prices for new vehicles)
consequences. The player can also start missions or explore San Francisco
(either in a car or on foot) to earn a number of positive achievements or
finding hidden hub caps for cash. Outside working, the game time runs faster
and fast travel points are available to use.
