## Description
_Blokken_ (the Dutch word for ‘blocks’) is a quiz app based on the TV show of
the same name that has been running on the Belgian national television channel
_een_ since 1994 with the host Ben Crabb e. The app is played as a trivia quiz
game with rounds of eight questions. There are both multiple choice questions
and questions where the correct answer needs to be formed by tapping letters
based on a small selection at the bottom of the screen. Questions have a time
limit and can be skipped. For each correct answer a letter is provided. At the
end of the round the player has to guess a word of eight letters using the
letters revealed through correct answers. The starting letter is coloured
differently if uncovered and the other revealed letters are marked in blue,
along with a selection of regular letters. Even if not all answers were
correct, it is still often possible to guess the word as the game also
provides a hint.
The game offers three game modes: tv-spel (TV game), duel and vrij spel (free
game). There is a different TV game on weekdays when an episode of the show is
aired. Players get to answer eight questions from the show (the show is pre-
recorded) and the word that needs to be guessed at the end of the round can be
sent as a text before 2 PM that day for a chance to win a prize. The winner is
then mentioned at the end of that episode later that day. Duel is similar, but
it is played against friends or strangers online. Free game is an endless
series of rounds played alone. Progress is rewarded with points and the game
has leaderboards for the all-time best scores, weekly best and daily best.
The game requires a Facebook connection to login and play. The Tetris variant
that is played on the TV game show, which the name is a reference to, is not a
part of the app. The game can only be played on phones and is not compatible
with tablets.
