Six rival factions are trying to conquer the remaining nations and take over the whole land of KreL. This is more or less the story of Realms of Torment, a MMORPG set in the medieval realities of fantasy.
The character development system in Realms of Torment is based on skills. The player can choose from six races (Humans, Elves, Orcs, Avians, Dwarves, Trolls), each of which additionally consists of several so-called subclasses. The player can at any time choose any skill of the selected class and begin to develop it, but if for a long time he or she ceases education in a given skill, the associated coefficients will start to decrease. In order to be able to use the right spells, you have to try to have a sufficiently high ability to wield magic, and in order to be able to use powerful weapons, for example, you have to show a sufficiently high level of strength. The player is not limited to following only the path of magic or the path of the warrior, he can shape his character in such a way that it will be a kind of hybrid with features of both these different classes.
A large number of different types of weapons, armour, magical objects, etc. have been put at the player’s disposal. The implemented system of spells should satisfy every fan of using supernatural forces. Available spells are divided into five categories: Dark magic, Light magic, Earth magic, Offensive magic and Defensive magic.
Acquired items can be traded with NPCs or other players. You can buy basic equipment in most shops, powerful weapons, artifacts, etc. You can buy only from a few merchants or produce it yourself, but in this case getting the right ingredients will not be too easy and will require a little effort.
The graphical engine used in the game provides nice, fully three-dimensional graphics and allows the use of complex weather effects (rain, snow, fog, sunlight, branches of trees swaying in the wind, etc.). Character animations are detailed and realistic – you can cut off your opponent’s limbs, etc. during combat.
The size of the game world is initially 100 square miles, with time the land will be expanded by more locations. You can also not complain about the small variety of terrain – in the land of KreL you will find forests, swamps, deserts, snow-covered mountains, underwater areas as well as many caves and catacombs.
The communication system implemented in the game is not limited only to writing texts, it is also possible to communicate by voice using a microphone plugged into the computer.
