Accordion
_Accordion_ is a solitaire card game. Cards are dealt face up one at a time
and the aim of the game is to condense all cards into a single pile. To build
piles, cards are moved from the left to a card or a pile on the right. Piles
can be moved one or two cards to the left if the card on the left is of the
same suit or if the card on the left is the same number. The game begins with
four cards dealt and the player can then choose to make a move or deal another
card. If there are no legal moves that can be made from dealt cards, more
cards will automatically be dealt.
The rules of Accordion can be customized giving a total of 228 different
playable variations. Changes that can be made include how far cards can be
moved left and right (one to three), whether cards can go on same number only
or not and whether cards can go on same suit or color. By changing these it’s
possible to make the game easier or harder to play. There’s also a cheat
option where the computer will try to find a way to condense the cards into a
single pile. If it can, it will make one move towards that goal every time the
cheat option is used.
There are two versions of the game on the disk. In addition to the full
implementation there is also a stripped version with more basic graphics and
no in-game help. It takes only 33 KB in comparison to over 100 KB for the full
version but is functionally identical.
