Chromadrome
This game is the successor to Chromentum.
In the last game, the Chromates (some sort of living quanta) tested the
intelligence of the humans. Now they want to test the humans reflexes. For
this purpose, they released Chromadrome.
Basically, the game is an arcade racer. You control one of the Chromates, a
golden Chromate, while it “drives” along a road, where obstacles, loops, gaps,
etc. are in it’s way. You have to make sure that the Chromate you control does
not fall from the track. For this purpose, you will either dodge stationary
Chromates or shoot at them to get them out of the way.
Besides a complete tutorial, which tells you all what you need to know, the
game offers four different Singleplayer-modes and three different Two-Player-
modes.
The singleplayer game modes are: Arcade (20 levels with varying difficulty),
Time Trial (playing against the clock), Warp (orbiting the earth on a very
very long track), and Academy (mastering different parts of a track, while
completing different tasks).
The three multiplayer game modes, which are played in splitscreen, are: Score
(the highest score wins), Race (the fastest Chromate wins), and Armageddon
(the one who stays the longest time on the track wins).
There are a lot of power-ups and special objects on the track, which help or
hinder you. Silver Chromates blocking the route, golden Chromates help you to
accelerate, with Ramps you can jump over gaps, different rings give you
different features (faster speeds, removing Chromates, …) and much more.
Finally, a highscore is available, which not only saves the most points or
less time, it also allows the replay of all games involved in the highscore.
